My Dad, George Worth, was presented with a mantel clock in December 1939, for services as Secretary to the Cricket Club. The clock is on the mantelpiece in my home. (JPS)

Joan visiting St John’s Church in 1997 to research the Parish Registers.

Westfield Road. On the left is the Victoria pub and on the right is William Sykes Ltd. (later Readicut). William Sykes opened his new factory in 1896, making athletic goods. The frontage in the picture was added in 1930-1. Apparently, visitors to the town mistook it for the Town Hall, it was so impressive!
